Learn to Kitesurf
Although kitesurfing is an extreme sport, learning can be easy and fun when done with a qualified professional instructor. Each lesson lasts approximately 2 hours and costs R495 per lesson. Everything you need for the lesson is provided.
Lesson Break Down
It takes between four and six lessons to learn all the skills necessary to be able to stand up and ride on the kiteboard. A typical learning process would include.
Lesson 1: Basic kite piloting and safety on the beach.
Lesson 2 & 3: Being pulled through the water behind the kite without a board. This is called body dragging.
Lesson 4 & 5: Board riding lessons usually take place in Langebaan where it is much easier to learn on the flat water.
Board riding can only start once the all the skills necessary have been mastered.
Langebaan Lesson
Langebaan lessons last four hours instead of just two. We will all meet up in Big Bay and travel through to this beautiful turquoise lagoon in the morning. We will then spend the next 4 hours learning and riding in waist deep water without any waves, which makes it much easier to learn. The lessons usually wrap up around 15:30 at which point we will drive back to Cape Town, arriving in Big Bay around 17:30. Cost: R990 Travel: Included
